I see the Sun at the horizon,
about to set, less bright. The crimson has been transferred to the rest of the
skies. It’s clearly going to get darker and birds fly back to their self-made
nests just like their human counterparts! Vehicles get together making every
single road congested and blocked. Some kids want to wrap up their games or
sports quickly.
Through the glasses of a high
rise a lot more is presented by the evening. A sense of achievement as the day
is about to end, some relief that the night is going to bring and some peaceful
sleep to rejuvenate for another day!
I see it every day, around same
time. Yet, it doesn't fail to evoke a genuine smile. How could a routine be so
exciting, I question the Sun! We crave for so many new things, wanting much
more from each day than before. Restless minds with unfulfilled goals, dreams
that remain with a sense of insecurity.
We don’t want our kids to lose
out a year because of late schooling. May be they learn more just by being with
us. A year missed is a year gained! But that’s not what we like. We can’t make
it to a dear or a neared one’s wedding because of deadlines and unending
commitments. We give so much importance to time as if it’s going to end too
soon, as if being threatened by it always. Everyone’s given equal time each day,
just the lifespan differs.
The Sun slowly sets far away and mocks,
and asks a question in return. I revolve around you each day, every day through
the year for centuries until eternity. I wake you up in the morning the same
way and evoke smile as I say goodbye at the evening. I may not be always seen,
but I’m always there doing this one duty bestowed up on me, while you do so
much in your short life. A life that’s shorter by leaps and bounds against
mine.
And my routine is just the
same, that one little duty of revolving around you my friend while you do so
much more in your short little ‘Precious’ life…
