So, everyone is into media bashing these days and everyone including the media knows that it's right! Why wouldn't the media justify itself? Or the question should be - what's the need for the media to be justifying its unfairness! Do you have an option?
When a movie like 'Rann' was made, the verdict was confusing again. Half the critics called it a 2 starrer while the rest gave it 4 stars. We all know that the movies are marketed, promoted and advertised by the media to reach out to the people well in advance and they get their due credits in the movie reels which goes – 'media partner … so n so'! If that's the case, how believable could a rating by a particular media be in case it was a partner with a certain movie? Let's say I'm your partner and I write you off later in case I find you worthless… illogical, unbelievable right? So if A has been a marketing partner with movie B and goes all its way in promoting it, doesn't A know well in advance what B has to offer? A can as well give out the rating of B even before B would be released to the world rather than acting to play a fair-game. Assuming B is indeed a 1starrer movie, why would A partner with it? And since A has partnered with B, it's also A's responsibility to make sure B does well by calling it better than what it actually is!
We still read all reviews on the release day… we still stay confused coz rediff n times gave it 4stars while ibn and naachgaana gave it 2, while the inside story could be something else!
There is much more to media than this, of course! Big B has already boycotted the Oscars of India (which is filmfare) since a part of this group badmouthed his daughter-in-law for which no apology or explanation was given despite legal notices being sent. Big B is big enough to blog the wrong news against the media and take it to the people, but can anyone and everyone do it? IBN came out with a greatly innovative, sensational section called 'Juicy Mausi' with a DISCLAIMER: Any content appearing under "Juicy Mausi" section is purely gossip. IBNMovies.com does not comply with the same. Now that's amazing, you put a disclaimer and publish whatever you want coz it's not meant to be believed to be true. In the past few days I saw some truly fanciful (even weird) headlines and when I clicked, it was all fictitious assumptive ill-humored stories! You can create such a section in your NEWS site!!!
It makes me think one day in the very near future, all the media might come out with a disclaimer like this for all its contents and would just remain like a collection of few blogs (not NEWS), which are just perceptions and innovations and inventions of its writers (aka journalists)
DISCLAIMER: whatever is written here is not intended to be what it seems to appear in case the appearance is objectionable! Any content appearing in this post is purely gossip. I don't comply with the same!
