When it comes to music in Bollywood, there are a few names that easily find place in one's heart with the likes of the great Madan Mohan, AR Rahman, RD/SD Burman, Laximkant Pyarelal, Kalyanji Anandji, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy to name a few. But there were/are many others who didn't exist for long, yet made an impact in big ways! I'm not talking about those Anu Maliks or Reshamiyas of the world. But the following who created unforgettable melodies and became almost the forgotten musicians today.
Ismail Darbar: With an enviable debut like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and an award winning Devdas he never recreated himself with either Tera Jadoo Chalgaya or Kisna and quickly disappeared!
Jeet: Do we know he made a melodious debut with the current sensation Pritam!? It was Tere Liye and I remember humming those soft tunes sung by Sonu Nigam. Later they teamed up in Mere Yaar Ki Shadi Hai which was a disastrous movie but songs being fresh! The duo parted ways and Jeet isn't remembered unlike Pritam.
Monty Sharma: If you liked the lavish Devdas and it's intense cinematic experience, Monty Sharma was the one scoring its background. Black had no songs, yet an incredible music throughout its background that Monty provided. Saawariya too for many music lovers had wonderful and soothing music. But alas, Monty Sharma seems to be done with his best efforts!
Raam Laxman: Who can ever forget Maine Pyaar Kiya or Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and the endless songs they had composed by RaamLaxman! Though his 3rd with the Bharjatyas which was Hum Saath Saath Hain was an average grosser, he isn't remembered for anything else.
Sandeep Chowta: Who had a Mast entry to bollywood with Mast, followed by Jungle and Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya (interestingly all with Ram Gopal Verma) and unendingly memorable background scores for Satya, Kaun, Company and Om Shanti Om to name a few. The one who revolutionized background music bagging many awards now seems to be still in the business but almost invisible.
Those were just a few names who couldn't go beyond a couple of unforgettable and incredible efforts! What crosses my mind is, 'Is there a limitation to one's achievement that one gives his best that he cannot repeat!' It's a big question that can be debated but since these people were once my favorites, I couldn't ignore their effort and the question still remains...
